12 Biblical Qualifications for a Worship Leader

Great series of article over at the Resurgance blog on the qualifications for a worship leader.  We don’t always thinK of it this way, but they take the same qualifications that the bible gives in the New Testament for pastors and elders and applies them to worship leaders.  It’s a high standard, but one that we need to hold to as leaders no matter if we’re on staff or volunteers.  What do you think?  Here’s the whole list:

  1. Above Reproach (1 Timothy 3:2 & Titus 1:6-7)
  2. Husband of One Wife or Wife of One Husband (1 Timothy 3:2 & Titus 1:6)
  3. Sober-Minded or Disciplined (1 Timothy 3:2 & Titus 1:8)
  4. Respectable, Well Thought of by Outsiders, Not a New Convert (1 Timothy 3:2, 6-7)
  5. Hospitable (1 Timothy 3:2 & Titus 1:8)
  6. Able to Teach (1 Timothy 3:2 & Titus 1:9)
  7. Not a Drunkard (1 Timothy 3:3 & Titus 1:7)
  8. Not Violent but Gentle, Not Quick-Tempered (1 Timothy 3:3 & Titus 1:7)
  9. Not Arrogant or Conceited (1 Timothy 3:6 & Titus 1:7)
  10. Not a Lover of Money (1 Timothy 3:3 & Titus 1:7)
  11. Good Husband/Father or Wife/Mother(1 Timothy 3:4-5 & Titus 1:6)
  12. Lover of Good, Upright and Holy (Titus 1:8)
